Samsung Unveils The Galaxy Note 3 + Galaxy Gear Smartwatch (Video)

Above is the full 2-hour Unpacked event held earlier today by Samsung in New York City, revealing the expected third iteration of their Galaxy Note line along with a possible gamechanger with their new Galaxy Gear smartwatch.

Won’t get into too many details about the Note, as you know the drill by now when it comes to smartphones (“bigger, slimmer, faster… blah blah”).  The smartwatch on the other hand is new territory, featuring a 1.63-inch Super Amoled screen and a 1.9 mp camera that can capture 720p video.  Yes, another lowkey method of creating the next Worldstar video sensation.

The Note 3 hits retail in 149 countries on September 25th.  The Galaxy Gear will launch sometime in October.

Samsung Galaxy S4 “Google Edition” Release Date

One of the coolest things revealed yesterday at Google’s keynote during I/O 2013 was the Google Edition of the Galaxy S4.  The phone brings the pure Android experience of Nexus phones to the Galaxy S4, which means the latest Android updates from Google as soon as they drop.  This definitely changes the game for folks like me, who were trying to decide between the S4 and waiting for the next Nexus phone from Google.

Google revealed the price will be $649 for the unlocked phone, which will be available on June 26th.  It will be compatible with the 4G LTE networks from AT&T and T-Mobile.

Samsung Unveils the Galaxy S4

With over 40 million units sold, the Galaxy S III was the highest selling smartphone of 2012.  Samsung isn’t satisfied with riding that train forever, and they’re ready for an encore and another jump on the competition in 2013.

We just got used to 720p HD screens last year, but the S4 features a 5-inch 1080p Super HD screen.  This will also be the year where companies will capitalize on the fact that people are using their phones to take pictures more than stand-alone digital cameras, so the device will feature an advanced 13mp rear camera.  A Dual Camera feature let’s you use both the front and rear cameras at the same time, and a Group Play feature will allow you to share photos, music, games and more without a wi-fi or cellular connection.  In addition to all that, the phone is thinner than the S III, has a quad-core processor, 2gb of RAM, 4G LTE, and will come in 16gb, 32gb, and 64gb options.

Check out CNET’s coverage below:

The device should be available sometime in the 2nd quarter, so basically by this Summer.

Video: Samsung “Get Ready 4 The Next Galaxy” Ad

Samsung is preparing to launch the Galaxy S IV next Thursday, and its safe to say it will be a big deal.  Considering the S III continues to be the best selling Android phone ever and the most popular phone of 2012, the next Galaxy has a lot to live up to.  This new ad gets the hype train rolling.

Samsung To Unveil Galaxy S IV In March

If you thought about buying a Galaxy S III, you might want to hold back.  Sites around the net are reporting a rumor that the “next big thing” from Samsung will be announced at an event on March 15th.

Considering the S III is currently the most popular and best-selling Android phone (ever), the Galaxy S IV has big shoes to fill.

Video: Samsung’s Youm Flexible Display Tech

At CES, Samsung unveiled its new revolutionary Youm flexible display technology that will soon appear on some of the company’s new smartphones and tablets (Galaxy S IV perhaps?).  Samsung also hopes other companies will get onboard and use the tech for their own devices in the not-so-distant future.

Video: CNET Review of Samsung Galaxy Camera

One of the potentially hot items this holiday shopping season could be Samsung’s brand new Android-powered Galaxy Camera, which was released last week.  The camera is the first of its kind to feature a data plan from a carrier and is available to AT&T users for $500.  Check out the review to see if its worth your money.

Samsung EK-GC100 Galaxy Camera

Recently I was on Twitter making the suggestion that Google should release Android-powered digital cameras.  Lo and behold, I was enlightened when I found out Samsung had one on the way.  It’s actually a hybrid with phone calling features.  Instead of a cameraphone its a phonecamera… or something.

With Android 4.1, 16mp and 21x zoom along with Wi-Fi/3G/4G connectivity, this might be the beginning of the future for digital cams as we know them (in fact, Nikon has an Android camera on the way too).  AT&T is supposed to be getting them sometime this Fall or early 2013, and they just dropped in the UK last week.  Pricing and exact release info seems to be pretty scarce currently.

Update:  AT&T is getting them sooner than expected.  In fact, they’re hitting stores on November 16th.

Samsung Galaxy Note II Pre-orders

Pre-orders are now available from AT&T for Samsung’s next big device, the Galaxy Note II. T-Mobile customers can also pre-order the device now.  Sprint will launch the device later today (October 25th) and two more carriers, U.S. Cellular and Verizon, will join in the fun soon as well according to CNET.

Samsung Galaxy S III Mini

Earlier today Samsung unveiled a smaller version of their popular flagship device, the Galaxy S III.  The Mini features a 4-inch screen, which might appeal to those that aren’t fond of the bigger screens on devices such as the S II, S III, and Galaxy Note.  Besides that fact, everything else about the phone has received mixed reception.

The phone has some tech that was considered great 2-3 years ago: no 4G connectivity (only 3G), 800 x 480 pixel screen res, 5mp camera, and while the 1GHz dual-core processor is still good money, it remains to be seen what the performance is like.  Though the phone will ship with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), so that’s definitely a plus.

Samsung is targeting the budget-conscience crowd with this latest device, however pricing and market availability is not yet known.
