The New Flickr

Big things went down with Flickr this week, which some believe is going to re-spark the site’s popularity.

The site got an aesthetic overhaul and everything is bigger: profiles now have the option for cover photos, your images look nice together in a big mosaic view, and even your avatar is much bigger. To cap off this new all-HD era of Flickr, the site gives everybody 1 TB of storage for their photos. Yes, 1 Terabyte per account.

But that isn’t all. The Flickr app finally got revamped too, and matches the mosaic style of the new site. It’s more functional and eye-catching, and so far many seem to really like it.

The Newsroom broke out and was highly praised last year when it debuted on HBO. Not only did the show have some intriguing characters, but it was fun to see a glimpse of what people behind the news do to get the news and to see them hustle to present it to the audience.

Thankfully we won’t have to wait too much longer for more, as Season 2 premieres on July 14th.

Catching Up: Chance The Rapper “Acid Rap” Mixtape

The past year has been cray for Chance. After dropping his first tape 10 Day last year, which he finished up while serving a 10-day suspension from school (thus the name), Chance proceeded to blow the hell up. This year he performed at SXSW, will be at Lollapalooza this Summer, and has been getting tour/show money all Spring. So I finally checked out his new project Acid Rap that he dropped a few weeks back. Its definitely something you should check out.

Microsoft’s New Console: The Xbox One

So we can finally throw all that “720” stuff out.

The One, which drops later this year, has some pretty nice modern hardware: 8-core CPU, 8 GB of system memory, built-in Wi-Fi (Wireless N + Wi-Fi Direct), Blu-ray drive, USB 3.0, and a 500 GB harddrive. It remains to be seen if Microsoft will offer different models at different prices like they initially did with the 360.

What will be talked about the most however, will be the software. The system is powered by 3 operating systems and offers voice recognition and motion sensing technology to help you use and manage your music, movie, app, and gaming collection. Demonstrations at the Reveal event showed instant switching between all your different media, including live TV. You can go from a game to a movie to live TV, just by using voice commands. A new Skype experience was revealed for the console, which features group video calling.

A feature list can be seen now on Xbox.com. There will be a lot more to see and read about in the coming weeks leading up to (and at) E3 2013, which kicks off on June 11th.

Video: Kanye’s “New Slaves” Premiere

So in case you missed it, this was a wild night. Kanye premiered his new song “New Slaves” in the most Yeeziest way: by having his face projected on the side of buildings at 66 locations around the globe.

The 10 cities lucky enough to get premiere spots were New York, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Toronto, Paris, London, Berlin, and Sydney, and people were scrambling to go catch a glimpse.

Expect the single to drop very soon (and as early as this weekend before his appearance on SNL).

Samsung Galaxy S4 “Google Edition” Release Date

One of the coolest things revealed yesterday at Google’s keynote during I/O 2013 was the Google Edition of the Galaxy S4. The phone brings the pure Android experience of Nexus phones to the Galaxy S4, which means the latest Android updates from Google as soon as they drop. This definitely changes the game for folks like me, who were trying to decide between the S4 and waiting for the next Nexus phone from Google.

Google revealed the price will be $649 for the unlocked phone, which will be available on June 26th. It will be compatible with the 4G LTE networks from AT&T and T-Mobile.

Apps: Twitch For Xbox 360

Recently I’ve begun to love the idea of watching others play games rather than playing them myself. It’s cool if you just want to see new games played through to the ending(s), but there’s also the potential amazement of watching someone beast at a game in ways you didn’t think possible.

Enter Twitch, which is a video game broadcasting (live streaming gameplay) and chat community. They used to do stuff like this on Justin.TV all the time, before the co-founders branched out and created Twitch.TV as a result. Apps for Twitch have been on Google Play and iTunes for a minute, but this week an app hit the Xbox 360 as well.
